Our organization has a unique name! We see that the word Daiseys is misspelled, and it was no accident! We got the names from our children....they are in the Girl Scouts of America, and decided that we were going to name the organization after the youngest of the troops Daisies and Cubs....but my daughter spelled it out as "Daiseys and Cubs" We decided it was a true show of how innocently happy children can be when they are creative, and inspired! So there you have it....the golden question I have been asked so much! How did you get that name Megon!

Daiseys and Cubs is a non-profit organization that provides blankets and afghans to less fortunate children in the community, battered women's shelters, homeless shelters, orphanages, assisted living homes, and other community centers. We have volunteers from all over the United States that donate their time, materials and resources to helping us provide comfort and companionship in the form of materials, and keepsakes.
These help children in the foster system, hospitals, and who are homeless, feel more at home. These children gain a sense of belonging to something, and someone through our donations.
Daiseys and Cubs volunteers their time and donations to many organizations in the local and distant communities.

Organic Victory: One woman overcomes some
of the worst kind of pain, to claim one of the best
kinds of victories
In our deepest struggles. In our most harkening heartache,
in the place where we heave hopeful for the beaten breath,
what do we see? What do we do?
Are we able to forgive? Are we able to take what has troubled
us and turn it into triumph?
One woman out of Brighton Colorado, tells a story of burden
and the steps toward rebirth; heartache and the strength to
choose healing; experiencing vicious betrayal-- but walking into
boundless victory....

H Style: What was the single most rewarding moment in providing help
to others through Daiseys and Cubs?
Megon Valencia: Being able to do something that I love, and giving it to a child who needs comfort, and something to call their own. The very first foster child who received one of my blankets was a young girl at my daughter's school. It was a rewarding feeling!
H Style: Can you talk about a painful experience of being
in the foster care system. How did you come out of it
with such a loving heart, instead of a bitter one?
Megon Valencia: I was in the Foster Care System for 6 years of my life. During that time I was raped, and as a result I gave birth to twin daughters.. It was difficult to go through because you dont have your parents there to guide you and love you. Often times I was passed from home to home, as most foster homes are only temporary. I just decided early on that I wanted to help other kids. I really wanted to become a foster parent myself but never really persued that avenue. I instead decided to donate to the organizations that helped me. I support Big Sisters and Brothers of America, Boys and Girls clubs of America, Girl Scouts of America, Battered Womens Shelters, Foster Homes, etc.
H Style: Can you talk about the moment that stands out for you
as the best, in terms of your experience in foster care?
Megon Valencia: In terms of the best situations. I was safe, I had food, and clothing, and an education. I made many friends, and met some people who really wanted to make a difference in my life!
H Style: Can you name one care-taker or mentor who you really
credit largely for their help?
Megon Valencia: I could give credit to Family Extensions, and Gemini House in Colorado. Some of my most memorable moments were in their care. They never gave up on me, and tried to teach me that life is really what you make of it.
H Style: What is it that you like about the Green Community and the
Natural Living Community?
Megon Valencia: I support a Green and Natural Living Community because it creates safer products, and increases our chances of living more healthy lives.
H Style: And of all the products on the
H Style Magazine site,(click on any small banner) which company
stands out as having a product that you know you would use
or that someone you care about could enjoy?
Megon Valencia: I really like the Ciao Bella Body products.
H Style: Singer Alisson Mark was recently featured in H Style,
and our readers love him. What do you think about his
idea of thinking globally and acting locally?
Megon Valencia: I definately agree that home grown is the best! It not only is healthy, but supports the local communities. It is good for our future!
H Style: How do you balance your volunteer work with acquiring
your regular income?
Megon Valencia: I am a full time mother to 8 children, and I work outside of the home as a Bookkeeper. I also own and operate a Business Management Company, Valencia Inc! I stay very busy between work, home, and volunteer work.
H Style: What kind of impact do you want to have on this world?
Megon Valencia: I want to bring happiness and joy into the lives of others... I want to help bring hope back into the eyes of children, and families that have otherwise lost a little hope. I can't be Santa, but I can certainly be an angel!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And there she is. Our angel. Her story so moving; her heart so pure, that we at H Style were inspired to do more, and look out for others more; and simply be more. And when your actions move someone to look out at the world and forgive. To look around yourself and love--what greater victory could you ask for?
